Percocet Addiction

Percocet Addiction begins as a dependency usually through prescription to the drug Percocet. Percocet is an opioid that is formed from a combination of oxycodone and acetaminophen. Percocet Addiction can occur as early as three weeks after the addict originally begins to take the drug.

Just like other prescription drugs, Percocet Addiction is rapidly becoming a serious scourge. Of course most addicts become addicted not by choice, rather they fall into dependence to the power of Percocet. This is what makes it such a bizarre situation. Doctors in trying to help patients that are in pain end up causing them a different sort of pain.

Percocet Addiction Signs

Signs that someone has become addicted to Percocet are:

  • Taking medication when it is not needed
  • Rapid upswing in the amount taken
  • Doctor shopping

It doesn’t matter if a person intentionally creates a Percocet Addiction (due to an addictive personality) or becomes addicted by accident, outside addiction treatment is necessary. In most cases an addict’s doctor is the first person to go to in order to know what to do.
