Receiver To Giver

In spiritual and moral growth it is imperative to mirror the divine. This boils down to transforming one’s self from a receiver and taker of others to a giver to others. This is not an easy task, but it is necessary to complete the process of inward change. Of course the shift from taker to giver needs to happen in the mind first. This can be done through any many means of self reflection and meditation. After one has cemented the mental need to be a giver to others, this deep and newly discovered character trait must be drawn to one’s heart in order to make a true lasting impression. This impression and engraving on the heart of the individual expresses itself by means of a person’s actions towards others.

The 12 Steps and Becoming A Giver

In it’s final step, the 12 Steps state: Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these steps, we tried to carry this message to other addicts, and to practice these principles in all our affairs. This step is the final transformation of the addict in the 12 Step Program. In a sense the 11 steps before the final step were building blocks of self discovery and revelation. The 12th Step essentially is the outward expression of the inner transformation of the addict. Step 12 is the finality of transforming the addict from a taker and receiver to a giver.
