Take time to Think about the Step you are on

Sitting for at least 10 minutes a day and thinking about the step that you are working on can help you achieve the clarity you need to obtain to remain sober. Each of the steps are designed for contemplation as is the literature most 12 step programs give you when you enter the program.

Learn to take at least 10 minutes a day to relax and rest. Most people who lead a busy life or one that involves addiction have difficulty relaxing. By taking this time to just rest you can improve your chances of a successful 12 step recovery. Many times the addiction is caused by the inability to relax without the drugs or alcohol.


Exercise is an excellent form of stress reduction and a distraction. 10 minutes of exercise, a day is helpful for your overall health and wellbeing as well as your sobriety. If you can exercise for longer, it is better but it is important that you take at least 10 minutes a day for physical activity.

Talk to a Friend

By talking to a sober friend, it can help take some of the stress of dealing with both cravings and triggers away. Just take a few minutes each day to make contact with someone.

Take Time out for Yourself

Everyone leads a busy life these days. We often forget to take time for ourselves. By scheduling 10 minutes a day of me time you can improve your chances of recovery. You can do anything you enjoy during this time but it is important to take the time out for you.

Drink a Cup of Herbal Tea

Herbal tea is calming and the act of drinking something warm is often comforting. By slowly drinking a cup of tea, you allow yourself time to relax and get away from things. Don’t actively do anything else aside from sitting and enjoying the beverage.
